Day School Approach

The Cyzner Institute Day School program integrates education with layers of therapy in a dynamic, nurturing learning environment. Our goal is to help our young students build essential developmental and academic skills through highly customized curricula and therapeutic approaches. Our low student-to-teacher ratio allows for a more differentiated learning program for each child so that he or she can get the individualized support needed.

We strive to meet pre-academic and academic standard courses of study, providing just the right challenge to help our students feel confident about learning without feeling overwhelmed. Our academic instruction includes reading, handwriting, spelling, written expression, math, social studies, science, and more advanced language skills. Our curriculum also integrates group activities including arts and crafts, computer, gym time, and music therapy to help students learn to successfully interact with each other and build social skills. Additionally, customized learning centers and sensory support programs are integral parts of the schedule. For all students, we monitor progress closely, communicate regularly with parents, and make adjustments to individual programming accordingly.

Children with special learning, behavioral, and developmental needs come to the Cyzner Institute from both the public and private sectors from various settings. We have a diverse student body including children who have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Asperger’s Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), mood and anxiety disorders, language disorders, Auditory Processing Disorder, Dyslexia and other reading disorders, Written Expression Disorder, social skills delay, and other behavioral/emotional needs, and eating disorders. Our ultimate goal is to help students mainstream back into these public or private settings with the skills they need to be successful.
